Welcome to Firefighter Log Book

Hello,

I created Firefighter Log Book to keep in touch with other Firefighters who want to share incidents that Firefighters face on a daily basis. Feel free to share your story with us. We look forward from hearing from you.

Hello,

I am a female Florida firefighter. I would like to hear some stories from other females and their experiences in this male dominating profession. I found that its not males that hate female FF, its more females hating females. Maybe they are intimidated but at best we should be the one supporting one another.

Hi I am not a firefighter. I just happened to open the site. However, I want to commend each and every one of you for your caring and bravery. Sure some of you will stand out more than others -- it is that way in every profession, not just in firefighting. Firefighters and Paramedics are the most precious civil employees we have. What would we ever do without you. Thank you and God Bless and always keep you safe.

Hey everyone this is JD I want to give you guys a heads up on a few calls I have had with HAZMAT 23 over the past few shifts - We are now stationed at 104 Davie and are getting along really well with these guys/gals here they really have made us feel welcome- 1st call- 18 wheeler rollover on 595-and turnpike worked with 104 units to secure a leaking hydaulic tank- no one was injured and vehicle was uprighted without incident it made the paper. 2nd call gas leak at a Thai restraunt-again with Davie (worked real well with these guys) gas was shut down and had to wait on business owners to open restraunt. We had some readings on our monitors and had to ventilate the place. We also had a Hazmat call with Lauderhill- with a main gas line that was ruptured we secured it with City of Sunrise- We also tried jumping the call in Southwest ranches but was cancelled by B/C 32 two shifts back HM23 and L28 watched it burning as TL81 was helping Davie put it out-

Not really exciting stuff but a little something- I just want to say that the premise of this web site is a grat idea - I dont think it was designed to talk so much negative and needless information about BSOFR - our union- and our chiefs- Iam not saying you are not entitled to your opinions -but do it on another web site-

Thanks

JD

PS- wouldnt mind hearing about the electrocution call on 08-12-08 out in Weston.

Last shift while working at Station 6 we had the opportunity to roll out the big guns, meaning the two large portable pumps and the large master stream device. I have to tell you it was a little bit of a mission putting the system together. Finally when the system was linked together and the pressure was cranked up it really put out some water. The equipment looks like it could really handle a large incident. One thing that we did encounter was we had a rupture of a 5" hose so be alert to that and try to stay clear of the operation as much as possible. I believe that if there ever was to be a large incident in the region of the port anyone on the call will be glad they had this apparatus.

Weston: Puttering homeowner, 76, found dead in his attic
August 13, 2008
A 76-year-old homeowner puttering around his house Tuesday was found dead in his attic, the Broward Sheriff's Office and a neighbor said.

Rene Suarez went up to his attic to do some electrical work in his one-story home in the 16800 block of Southwest Fifth Court, sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles said. At about noon, his wife Flora called 911 saying she had not seen or heard him for about 45 minutes.

Authorities arrived, disconnected the power and went up to the attic, Jachles said. They found Suarez dead.

Investigators were working to determine whether Suarez was electrocuted or died from a medical condition, Jachles said. The Medical Examiner is to determine the cause of death.

Neighbor Larry Leiman said Suarez, a carpenter, liked to putter around the house.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of an early-morning fire at a home in South Florida's Lauderdale Lakes that caused smoke damage.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles says the fire started in a child's bedroom, but the children were sleeping with their mother.

Mylissa Williams, 29, told officials that her 7-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter were sleeping with her because they were afraid of the approaching Tropical Storm Fay.

Fire officials received a call about the fire around 1 a.m., and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes.
